How Does the VEU Program Work?

Similar to the Federal Government's STC Scheme, when you install a product that is eligible for a discount under the VEU program, a certain number of Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates are generated, depending on the product installed. These certificates are then sold to energy retailers like AGL or Origin to help them achieve their sustainability requirements.

Non-building based lighting upgrades - Lighting upgrades done in places such as sports fields, public or outdoor spaces, private roads or open air carparks.
Public lighting upgrades - Lighting upgrades done in a public open space that is owned by a distribution company, council or responsible road authority.
Hot Water Systems – Energy-efficient heat pumps and solar hot water systems to cut down heating costs.
Space Heating & Cooling Upgrades – High-efficiency air conditioners to keep your home comfortable year-round.
Efficient Appliances – Swap out old energy-guzzling appliances for modern, efficient models.
Space Conditioning and Shower Rose Upgrades – Upgrades such as weather sealing, insulation and low-flow shower rose.
Project-based activities - To help businesses get access to incentives for large custom projects.
Cold room activity - Cold room activities.
Gas efficiency activities - Gas efficiency activities.
Home energy rating assessment - Assessment to determine your home's energy rating.
